  1. Thanks for the warm welcome. And yes I have a website here is direct link for engraved stamps. Hope I can be of help. I have been answering a few PM's and If anyone has any questions which may require lots of comunication you can always e-mail me at tjp@columbiamt.com Custom Steel Hand Stamps I can post a thread but I did not want to appear like I was trying to solicit or anything like that. Just a steel guy who likes this kind of stuff. So if any admin people see me do anything not up to snuff please let me know. :)
  2. Peter you are correct about the pattern and art work. The pattern is kept for 30+ years and you never have to pay for it again. We make the design in Auto Cad drawing then once you have approved it we engrave the pattern artist transposes it into a 12X size scribed plastic pattern. From that he produces a sunken pattern into solid magnesium plate. Then a hard bakelite platic pattern is made for the pantograph to trace into the actual stamp. Once completed it is heat treated with a hard marking end 58 R/c and a drawn back hammer end so it doesn't splinter. We do have very high speed CNC engravers which work from the engineers drawing but we do not recommend this process for hand stamping or artistc engraving (logos and such)
  3. Hello everyone, My name is Tom and I am from Michigan. THis is a really cool site. I am always messing around with steel and fabricating and decided to join the site so I can post stuff. I also own a shop that makes steel stamps and engraves just about anthing. If I can help anyone with advice feel free to ask. Also a motor head basically if it moves.... I like it.
  4. High I am a newby and stumble onto this site. Hope I am ok with posting this. Just FYI I make steel stamps as well as all kinds of indent marking equipment. The posts are pretty good. If you need something special thats fine if you just want a hand stamp with standard fonts its much cheaper. Rule of thumb on multiple character hand stamps is $7 to $9 per character. It can be more or less of couse depending on size shapes and custom logos. My contact info is in my profile if you need it. Here is a direct link to our stamp page which has lots of good information.
