  1. I have been blessed by the Swedish god of anvils lately. 1930 200 lb Swedish steel . I ended up with some treats this past Sunday . Other than a few torch nicks in the face and it looks to have been welded to a base and torched off slightly it is in excellent shape . It rings like a bell and will return a ball bearing from 12 inches to 11+ It has a slight crown in the face and really feels lively under hand . I'm very pleased and feel fortunate to find one this nice .
  2. Thanks Frosty, I was actually thinking after tacking it together that I would cut the corners off. But mounting it off the corner is a great idea too. They were too useful to scrap! I actually have a pair of these drops so I thought the other one would end up as a makeshift swage/bolster block after welding in some gussets and some time with a mag drill and some files! They are 27 1/2" tall x 14+"wide and 25" long.
  3. Here is a new one I started today , 147lb per foot I beam drop from work
  4. The dies are 4" x 7" Andrew. I am going through the literature that Bob sent me now . Any info you could come up with would be great. I will have it set up and running next week so it won't take long for me to figure it out . I do quite a bit of architectural work, tool making and I would like to start making some pattern welded knives etc. I also make sculpture for which I have big plans for this hammer. I really look forward to the control of this beast . I haven't been up to Decorah in years but if you feel like making the 3.5 hour drive to Fairfield let me know and you can check this hammer out for yourself, with an IPA donation of course!
  5. Thanks for the tip Andrew! I will be using a 60hp screw compressor with a 50 horsepower backup, I think I'm covered Where are you located?
  6. Happy to be here Frosty! Thank you. I have done multiple searches with multiple search engines and have only found a few bits and pieces . I did contact Bob Bergman and he is very generously photo copying an original manual for me . I thought I would ask around on here to see what other knowledgable people would be willing to share. How's the weather in Alaska? cheers, Matt
  7. Hello Everybody, I have been lurking on this forum for quite a while and have now just joined.I just recently acquired a Chambersburg 3H utility hammer and was wondering if any of you kind folk had any info/manual on this beast? It seems to be in very good shape and I look forward to getting it put into service in the coming weeks. It is my first air hammer, i have always had mechanical hammers in the past so any input would be greatly appreciated.
