  1. I believe its a Cold shut. I'll have to double check. Either way it still does its job and I could make more if needed I have plenty of rail clips.
  2. The reason for the hammer marks was from it being a high carbon steel than I'm working with even at yellow heat it didn't want to move so I had to use a 4lb hammer and hit it hard to get it to move. So need up with less control. But it cuts hot metal pretty easy.
  3. Made a hot cut hardy today and the heat treat stuck a file just skates off it. I used a rail clip so it's about medium carbon it worked great for cutting nails.
  4. Neat little hammer. How much does it weigh? What kind of steel did you make it out of?
  5. September 24th is the next meeting up at arctic fire bronze in palmer
  6. Anvil looks good. Best way to clean it up is pounding hot steel on it
  7. I'm thinking a simple on off toggle switch ill line with the power cord should turn It on and off than using a removable pulley would change the spoon so a bigger pulley would in theory slow the belt down just like gearing in a vehicle will change the engine speed.
  8. Thank you for the info. I'm know enough about electrical to get myself killed so I think I have A LOT of reading and research before I continue with the belt grinder.
  9. My motor is from a treadmill so it has seen control built in. How would I beable to control it. I think 6800rpm is a bit fast for a belt grinder
  10. I'm not aure. I was thinking for my project to use a dimmer switch from a light switch
  11. Have you thought about wiring in a dimmer switch to control the speeds by adjusting it with the dimmer?
  12. Somebody up he should have one. If anything I'm a big guy I could always forge it and redrift it.
  13. I have a 3.3 sledge hammer that I was going to round and dome one face I suppose if I want I could cut the other face into a straight pien. I'd need a belt grinder first. I wonder if that would throw the balance off of the hammer? Always worth a shot being it was a free hammer. I'll have to take a look at a few of your hammers frosty.
  14. I haven't done extensive research but I've been unable to find 3 or 4lbs hammers cheaper than that in alaska. I haven't been able to find straight peins anywhere. I know there out there somewhere. And the ones I've found were around 70ish.
  15. Iv been in several positions where a straight pien would of been helpful. And I haven't been able to find one bigger than 2lbs. I'm really comfortable with 3 and 4lbs hammers. I saw those hammers the other day at the hardware store for fairly cheap on $35. But I wasn't sure how good fiskars are I've used Stanly and I've never been disappointed. Next week I think I'm going to snag a couple.
  16. Has anyone used these hammers? I'd like to find out anything I can about these. There is a Stanly3lbs rounding hammer and a fiskars 3lb straight pein.
  17. They aren't pointed at each other. I figured that it was too much burner but I don't have to run it to high. Once I get a pressure gage I'll know for sure how much pressure it'll take to run normally. I'm planning on bringing it to the next meet up.
  18. 375cui inside diameter 2 3/4in frosty t burners Burners aren't fully tuned yet but they do run and the make the metal hot so they will work until I able to fully tune them. Not to sure how well they are burning at the moment but they do not chug it's a constant roar.
  19. How was the demo? Couldn't scratch up the cash to go.
