  1. Hi my name is Mark, I'm new to blacksmithing and I really want to go to quadstate but don't have anyone to go with me just wondering if anyone is passing through Charlotte nc would be interested in having me join you, or i can meet within a couple hours of here if there is a safe place for my car, I can send you my number if you want to screen me first, but I'm a good traveler no drama go with the flow type.

  2. Hi, I got this hay budden as a throw in on a package deal because of the horn damage, the face is nice, has really strong rebound i really like it I'm using now and plan on keeping it as my user but the horn is really dinged up bad and caved in like someone used a air powered chisel on it,  I've been reading for the past two weeks on repairs searching this forum but most of the pictures won't open so it's hard to get a reference point, and from what I gathered my choices are to leave it alone and use something else as a horn I do have a spare anvil, take a flap disk to it or weld and as far as welding I've seen using 6010, 6013, 7014, 7018 I'm not a professional welder so that would be my last option. Please share your opinions, maybe pictures of anvils that had this problem and were repaired

  3. Nice, I just got that book on Google play,  the Smith I bought my anvils from was really nicenice and gave me a crash course of blacksmithing 101 helped me a lot. I have about a month till my wrist are healed them I can start banging away, till then I'll be reading and collecting free stuff to practice on, hammers, files leaf springs etc...

  4. Hi my name is Mark, just wanted to introduce myself. My brother and myself are both smithing rookies we are in the process of setting up a shop while I'm recovering from carpel tunnel surgery and we are gathering as much information as possible I also like to carve and want to make my own tools my brother wants to make everything, we recently just picked up a few anvils, I have a collector bug as well, we got a 145 and 200 lbs Wright and 125 hay budden, anvils seem to be in demand in Charlotte NC so I jumped on the ones we found.
