  1. i have a buffalo hand crank blower too and there is a screw on the front to show proper oil level.
  2. Hi just scored a buffalo coal forge,the date on it is 1945 cleaned it up and the firebox and the rest of the forge are in great shape with some minor repairs to the chimney(side draft).now i need to learn how to work with coal thanks to all who have posted on that subject.i was also given some old coal seems to be alot of fines in it not sure what to do here do i seperate the big stuff from the fines and the rest is junk.can anybody provide some input. thanks johnny onebun!
  3. thanks for the input guys i have decided to scap the rusty build and go with a tire hammer,sent for some plans from clay spencer.I like what i have read about them and that they are smaller.Will post pics when i start to build and figure out how to do it.
  4. jaret you can get plans for the apalachian power hammer from gerry allen thats where i bought mine pretty basic plans but they give you a pretty good idea of what to do the hard part for me is figuring out all the measurements to build to my hieght and specs for the material i have located.Also cheap to build i have about 300.00 $ invested pretty well have everything i need.google apalachian power hammers good luck
  5. looks good jeff i am going to be starting my build next week so i will have a better idea of what you went thru,still trying to figure a few things out before i start like overall hieght compared to ram throw and anvil hieght and dies. good luck keep us posted
  6. hi guys,building a rusty type hammer seems pretty staight foward i am considering using my large pully as flywheel too,some input on if this a good idea or not would be great thanks john

    thanks for the tips on where to get nickel sheet,i narrow vein mine the stuff 5000 feet underground in sudbury ont .can. and often think of using it in a project.
  8. hi there john fraser here from espanola ont.canada anyone else out there from northern ontario (sudbury,northbay,sault.st.marie).interested in blacksmithing it would be cool to hook up for a hammer in.
