johnny onebun Posted July 27, 2009 Share Posted July 27, 2009 Hi just scored a buffalo coal forge,the date on it is 1945 cleaned it up and the firebox and the rest of the forge are in great shape with some minor repairs to the chimney(side draft).now i need to learn how to work with coal thanks to all who have posted on that subject.i was also given some old coal seems to be alot of fines in it not sure what to do here do i seperate the big stuff from the fines and the rest is junk.can anybody provide some input. thanks johnny onebun! brian robertson Posted July 27, 2009 Share Posted July 27, 2009 Those fines will coke up just fine with a little water added. Large chunks of coal need to be broken up to make a good fire.
