This may sound like a stupid question,but what is a good height for an anvil to sit at. I'm about 5'11 and am getting an oak block from a friend,once he cuts the tree down.So if anyone has any suggestions so I dont have to cut this wood to many times or to much There are no stupid questions.....just alot on inquisitive idiots! :)

Thanks guys ! As soon as I can get some gear set up I'm going to start playing around alittle and see what I can do. I need to find someone around the Fredericksburg area that can teach me some stuff. I have a friend that is into throwing knives and tomahawks. I'd love to make him a tomahawk, that would be so cool.

I'm new to Blacksmithing, I've just recently taken an interest in it. Does anyone have any info on making Throwing knives? What kind of steel? Can you use leaf springs? Sorry if that sounds retarded, like i said I'm new to all this cool stuff
