  1. It is a Lancaster No.1. Well, it's not here yet (just won it from Ebay:D!), but it looks good to me. I thought I'd share some pictures! The seller said, "The blower measurements are: 15" x 14 1/2", casing 12", outlet 3" O.D., weight 38 lbs." It needs some oiling, but I got it at an unbeleivable price of $76, so I'm happy! I also wondered, what does the No. 1 mean (as opposed to a No. 4)?
  2. I'm sorry to hear about your father... But, if you are located in Homerville, Ohio, then you aren't too far away from me(~51 miles). Anyway, Ebay is a great option (just tell us your name so we can find what you list!).
  3. Pictures would help to clarify your problem... (People like me NEED pictures to really understand the problem:rolleyes:)
  4. I didn't REALLY want to heat it, but it is sturdy:rolleyes:, and may be around a lot of heat if I choose to use it for anything... Except a rain block for outside steel storage (Probable new use!).
  5. Where would be the best place to get tent canvas? Hopefully it is cheaper than leather. Thanks!
  6. ... Everyone suggests tent canvas:(, but would nylon, polyester, or cotton work?
  7. Leather would be great, but it gets pricy... Would something like polyester or nylon work as a bellows cover?
  8. Yep. I'm on a roll! So many questions; I know! Anyway:rolleyes:, I am REALLY considering making bellows, and I wanted to know if this kind of canvas (cotton) would work for the "leather" part. 100% COTTON 70 INCH WIDE 8 OZ. NATURAL CANVAS FABRIC - eBay (item 120370809678 end time Feb-08-09 10:46:49 PST) Canvas fabric, black, 100% cotton, 60"wide, per yard - eBay (item 310092365132 end time Feb-12-09 11:50:31 PST) If not, then what would be the best leather substitute? Thanks again!:D
  9. Welcome! Right well is this site a great source, and there are many smiths here who would share with you a lot of knowledge! Just ask around!:)
  10. I had a feeling it was galvanized, but I wanted a few other opinions just in case;). Thanks for clarifying that! I might just use it as a rain block for something or rather...:D
  11. Can anyone tell me if this is galvanized or not? I am fully aware of the risks of heavy metal poisoning:o, and want to know if this would be safe to heat up. Yes, it is a trash can lid... Thanks!
  12. You might be addicted to blacksmithing you wake up to a bunch of coal smoke, not to coffee! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - You might also be addicted to blacksmithing if you are a member of this site!
  13. I would really like bellows:D, be it great bellows or the medieval 2 bellows side by side with a "rocker shaft" to pump them, but I thought that a blower would be easier to get right now:rolleyes:. I think making two large single chambered bellows wouldn't be so hard, but it is a project for another time... Still, either one would be better than my electric fan (an actual room fan:rolleyes:) that I am currently using! Thanks so far, everyone!
  14. Hello! After doing some thinking, I realized I need a better air source:rolleyes:. So, I was wondering, where could I get a good hand-crank blower? Thanks!
  15. I'm sorry. I was too lazy to get new batteries:rolleyes:, which the camera needed for the flash...
  16. Well, for those of you who remember, I said that I may have gotten a post vise for Christmas. Well, I did:o, and thought I'd share some pictures! Also, does it look like I've put the spring on correctly? I used it's Ebay picture as an example of how it should go. Picture 1: Whole vise Picture 2: Spring and mounting bracket Picture 3: Top and jaws Picture 4: Leg Picture 5: Jaws Picture 6: Ebay picture
  17. Here's what I made as Christmas gifts: A paper towel holder (I still need to put holes in it:rolleyes:) A knife And a small flower.
  18. This worked very well for me, Thank you! (Except I got a burn from careless mistakes:rolleyes: On my middle and ring finger. I sometimes need to remind myself that Black metal IS hot metal!)
  19. I got it! A post vise is on it's way (after trying at 4000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 different ones )! -Thought I'd share! Merry Christmas everyone, and God bless!
  20. I am thinking of using coal and charcoal for work that doesn't make me smokey for later in the day (like for days I'll be out and about, I don't want to smell too much like coal! For those who use a combination of both coal and charcoal, do you use a specific ratio? Also, does it need a lot of air, like coal, or a little air, like charcoal?
  21. I must say, your welding a branch video on Youtube was beautiful! (I am subscribed as pyroticben)
