  1. wire brush and oil then use as is look like a very nice anvil
  2. look at this blue print BP1021 Forging long points bet it will help it is with a power hammer but the process is the same with a hand hammer
  3. hose are different now that said my supply house dose not stock propane hoses because no one use the propane hose i was told by them to use my hose. regulators will work.
  4. depending on the piece powder coating should work.
  5. material was purchased new as 1045 ,hole was punched at red orange heat shop is bright but slack tub is in the shade for the reason of watching color . that said this is the first time i have worked with 1045 it did not break in my hole but 1/4 in. away from it .:confused:i was wanting to use something a little tougher on my tong over a36 or 1018 witch i normally use .
  6. question for someone i was building some tong out of some 1045 after punch my hole and at a black heat i cooled it in the slack tub then i layed it on the anvil and watch the end shatter just past my hole i had just punched is this typical with 1045 :o
  7. ask you kids what they would do with out a parent or one with no eyes or a missing limb if you don't have kids then decide if it is worth it to save a few dollars or gamble not worth it to me PS i spent 40 years in the welding business welding on every type of vessel that had all kinds of hydrocarbons in them their is no guarantee on removing all of it none of them are Worth the chance
  8. i agree you get what you pay for but that said i use a lot of HF tool i have good luck out of their air tool never had one fail but if they do for the price i can not complain their elect. to i can not say .i dont use very many:)
  9. :cool: all my hammers are my favorite depending what i am doing but by far my big blue hofi hammer was my favorite at 3.7 lb but my new hofi hammer is taking it place quality ,better, balance ,craftsmanship has no price :D
  10. looking for a suppler for small amounts of h-13 in small size below 1/2 in like 3/8 and 5/16 speedy metals only list 1/2 as there smallest try to keep from forging it down
  11. :)just so everybody knows hofi contacted me and requited pic i sent them and am waiting for his reply but he was living on a trip so it might be a while . so i uploaded them here so everyone could see.their are more in gallery. :)

  18. how do i identify who built my ''Hofi'' hammer that i bought in the us from one of the blacksmith supply it apears to have a ''Hofi'' torch mark but it is different than the hammers that are shown here my handle is starting to come lose.
  19. which do you use oxy/propane or oxy/acetylene when doing work that requires heating quickly and in small spots such a rivets
  20. littleport22 use a heaver 1/4 nipple may have to go to ind. supply to get one.
  21. i new here it is a muffler swege for thin wall pipe.
