I am also right handed and my horn point to the left I started working with a anvil with the horn pointing right for the first two years of my forging, and it buggered me a lot so when I got my own I made it with the horn to the left. and has that on both I use. but i do walk all the way around for different types of work and
and I have learned since the start to never leave tools in the hardie

wiring lamps and such small stuff i no problem and can and may be done by anyone here in Denmark, i even made one in school when i was little with a bit help from the teacher. it is no more a safety factor then a hm say normal office work lamp or any thing with a light bulb.

very nice looking anvil i like it
I'd also go for wood and bold the anvill down to it. it will take a way lots of ringing and shock.

i am thinking about getting a wide cement pipe and cement it to a base so it is water tight it will hold the heat and the base could be made with small wheels for it to move around
metal buckets rust away and wood is very hard to find it a god size

I also use a wood and then a metal wedge and then soak the entire handle and hammer head in hot linseed oil for 1-2hours and then let it stay in the oil for 2 more days and then take it up and wipe it off and let it dry for a few days and then ready for use and I am 100% sure that it will never get loss with above normal use..
I use the same for axes, sledges and such..

I have an opinion on this topic that not many have. Most people tell young people to find what you love and do it. I say, do something you like that supports what you love. If you do what you love it becomes work. Everyone I know that

It has 3 air intake slots.
I have just made them so big that it is possible to blow out the flame no matter what gas pressure and then i have full control of it with the choke ring that slides over it to ajust the air intake.
thanks

so true so spot on. Glenn mate i know how ya feel... even tho i already have more tools then lots of other bladesmiths and blacksmiths i know i still feel like i got to little and always needs to use a tool i have seen but not have.. hehe
and yes reading about it is not the same but i do like to read about it tho and then try out the things and ideas i get from the books
well i think any blacksmith has it this way in some amount
and yes we can never learn enough but we can learn more faster with lovely nice forums like this where people give away their best tips and secrets for others info ain't it just great

okay i am yet novice at this forum will have a look at that.
here is a sketch 5 mins in paint. hehe
the jet can be moved in and out to a max of the 1/3 in from the input end
cant see much deffrence in the flame when i move it in and out but will tune it to find the best setting when the forge is ready
the total length is 35cm.

Frosty:
When you say BP ? hehe
okay i didn't know that, i build it after John N's design shown over on BB. i took this design since it looked "to me" easy to make and it looked highly effective.
the jet is around 1/3 in from the end and the burner is the same DIA inside all length.
ill try to make a sketch today.

the rest of the pics
and a extra gas valv ill put in just before between the burner and hose
