When using 2 Hydraulic cylinders on a press, does the pressure double. If 1 puts out 10 tons does 2 then put out 20? Thank You TJ

Planning a building a press. I noticed that in Jim Batson's book he specs a 2 hp motor, a 5 inch cyl, with a 5.5 gpm pump. is this gonna work? puts out 24 25 tons. TJ

If I used 2 3 inch bore cylinders on my press would that equal a 6 inch bore in operation? They would be hooked up in series. Take care TJ Smith

Thanks guys. Just another idea. I am working with a 20 ton air over hyd jack mini press . It works. But always trying to have better and faster equipment.. Probably would be better if I made knives instead of equipment. Ok where's that craigslist at. Take Care TJ

How about this? What about moving a log splitter inside the shop and leaving the engine out side. Can you extend the lines long enough to work? About 15 feet. To cold to work outside and to much exhaust and noise to be inside. What do you think? TJ Smith

Finished my prototype Harley Chain Knife. It's a san-mai type construction. Has a 15n20 core ,chain on both sides, filled with 1084 powder. Then put in a square tube and sealed. I used a 20 ton air/hyd jack to press the canister into a flat bar. I then ground it into a knife shape . Here is the result. Take Care TJ Smith

Yeah try a slitter first. Then take your drift and enlarge the hole. If your metal is splitting you're working it to cold. I did some spikes and had cracks. the hotter the better with spikes. Take Care TJ Smith

When you hit it with a hammer the hammer does recoil. It will be a long time before I realize it doesn't work as good as it should. Another version of the 20 ton bottle jack press. Decided to try an I beam version as i have worked on some full size heavy duty press made with huge I beams. I used a 6 inch I beam for the upright and 4 inch channel for the base. 2 piese of 4 inch channel are not strong enough and have some flex in them when under load. The beam seems to hold. The wood being crushed is 2x2 by 3 inch long pine. I have changed the upper bolts to 1/2 inch grade 8 and reinforced the base. The design requires the upper anvil to be movable on the beam for other uses. Your thoughts would welcome Take Care TJ

I have a Clarke 180en mig welder. It has a very small tube from the gas tank to the torch. smaller than 3/16 and bigger than 1/8. Must be some metric size. What can i do to connect gas to the regulator? How much pressure in the line from tank to torch? Thanks for any sugestions TJ
