  1. I don't think anyone was saying the terminology was offensive, just incorrect. Some of the responses included some dry wit (they're blacksmiths, the heat from the forges dries it out. They can't help it)

  2. I don't think the comments to you were negative. They were informative. Some even encouraging ( Steve ending with "Good start"). The only negative comments I noticed were about Cold Steel brand blades.

  3. Takeru, the only thing that bothered me, was that even after you had been notified that the word was inappropriate here, you blatantly used it again in your response post. Honestly, that comes across as a rude thumbing of your nose whether it was your intention or not. I believe it was THAT which ruffled more feathers than your actual language.

  4.  Thank all for your feedback

I'm sorry i did not know that $#|+ was censored, let me use more synonyms to see witch one work best : Fecal mater , poop, excrement, caca, defecation, manure, number two, stool, dung, .... anyway the list can go on for quite a while.

Il be careful in the future not to offend the young reader with what i call natural body fonction.

    Thanks for the warning. :P

    that one, right?

  5. I would think the moddle wold be a great selling point...

    "free kiss with every sale"...

and have a bag of Hershey Kisses in a box so she could give them out ( if that is the type of kiss she wants to give that customer)

  6. I liked the guy that said, "I have made over 6000 knives and have a distinct advantage over the others!" Maybe not the actual quote, but close. Then his knife broke when he chopped on the vise and he was kicked out after the first round.

I liked him too. When I saw his design drawing at the beginning, I turned to my wife and said "if he can pull off what he drew... it'll be awesome"

The thing I liked most about him was that he didn't bad-mouth the judges or other contestants when he was eliminated. Just admitted that he messed up and moved on.

  7. Apparently you missed the whole point of my post.  Knife Rights has been battling federal, state and local governments to protect us from over zealous prosecutors and politicians.  Knife Rights has been showing that knives are tools, not necessarily weapons  that should be banned and that the possession of such should not be criminalized.  The show could have shown knife making using knives for other purposes such as kitchen knives, skinners, hunters, folders, etc.  The show does not need to add fuel to Cyrus Vance's ill advised crusade.

No Wayne, I did not at al missyour point. I highly respect your knowledge and skill, so do not take this as sarcastic or negative. I believe you missed the point of my post. They did not show the knives being tested as weapons. They showed them being tested as tools, puncturing a metal drum and cutting rope. It was only the swords tested as killing weapons, and I don't think Knife Rights even tries to say swords such as katana are tools. I fully agree and Support Knife Rights. I just think you are extending the argument to the entire show whereas it shouldn't apply.

  8. Question: are you wanting it just for display, or are you planning to actually use it? If for display only, you can use mild steel which is easier to work and not worry with what will be very difficult heat treat for someone with no experience. My guess, is you were inspired to try by the "Forged in Fire" premier. The two finalists made it look almost easy, that was in part thanks to the video editors as well as their years of experience. They cut out a LOT of the work that went into it. And if you noticed, the one guy, even with years of experience had problems with his heat treat.

  9. It's embarrassing!

You should be ashamed... for making a 6'2" , 250# man say "AAaaww"

It looks great. Love the whole thing, but the putter (?) ears caught me first. I love looking at your work and trying to figure out as many of the components used its construction as I can. Of course that is AFTER just looking at for a little while and a few times... just going "Man, that guy's got skills!"

  10. I have seen the result of a home-built trailer failure. The truck pulling it was heading South at 45mph when the tongue welds gave. The trailer crossed the median into oncoming traffic. Impact with the first vehicle broke the tie-downs holding the box-blade onto the trailer. The box-blade went through the windshield of the SUV in the lane next to the first impacted car. It was very disturbing seeing my wife's coworker, a former nurse, trying to hold the man's skull together enough to keep more grey matter coming out.

Lend result: five injured, two critical and one dead.

Please don't risk anybody's health and safety.
