  1. if you do decide to use the higher consentrations (30-36Molar) of hydrochloric acid you have to be very careful because it is unstable and will turn to hydrogenchloride the gas. The gas can react with the moisture in your nose and mouth and make some nasty burns. It happened to a kid on friday during a lab.
  2. where might I be able to get a catalogue or maybe a url for one of those suppliers?
  3. I got a freind who wants his last name etched on the blade of a sword that he made. I've read to coat the blade with tape all the way to paint it. :confused: I need to know what coating will work best and what type of etchant to use whether it is HC2H3O2 or FeCl3. I was looking to coat the balde in parafin wax and cut out the name any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
  4. I have a book, Swords and Daggers by Fredrick Wilkinson that has a couple of pictures but they look like a simple design with a square crossbar hole about a foot or so down the blade. They don't look to have edge bevels after the crossbar hole. Though one them has an area that is flamebladed or wavy but i think that that is just for show.
  5. Atfer you etch something that is pattern welded, how do you keep it from rusting?

  7. How is it that a leaf bladed dagger is made?:confused: I cant ever seem to get it right. Near the tip is almost always bent at some weird angle. The strage thing is that i dont have any problems as long as I don't make the blade leafed? if anyone has some advice it would be much appreciated. Josh
  8. A pre-1800s anvil followed me home:D from an old barn in Steele, AL you can see when the heel and horn were welded back on after they were choped/broken of at the end of the civil war to help in the hinderance of tool production.
  9. I first learned to weld while working on an old horse trailer with my dad. I was pretty good so he let me do some of the work on the lesser projects in the shop and now I'm the #1 welder/metal fabricater at Aardvark Performace. Where we mainly work on road racing car, but specilize in C5 corvettes.:cool:
