  1. yeah frosty that is a good point. with 20 beers on tap at all times things have been known to get a little tipsy in there. I have heights and what not just need to come up with a good cost effective design to reuse the tops and swivels. I want to do something more blacksmith like but fore see it being a cut weld sort of project to hit the target price range. Apparently some of the larger customers have been breaking up the wooden bases on these..... After he told me this I laughed and told him I was just trying to drum up buisness.... I am 6-4 300 lbs and have my own beer stein there that says "big boy" on it.....
  2. thanks guys. I guess to be more clear I need to bid building 20 plus bases for stool tops and swivels they already have. It is for a local Irish pub. I did the google search and was just trying to glean a few more ideas.
  3. Hey all I was wondering if anybody had built some bar stools and wanted to share some design ideas? Thanks
  4. this should be a permant sticky in the general blacksmith discussion. excellent quick reference to view tool designs

It has served me very well needs a minor overhaul.... anyhow i think when i get that overhaul kit i am going to get him to send me one of the new 3 burner metalsmith forges. now that is my opinion of versatility! -----this post was not solicited by dennis in any way these are my honest opinions-----

the copper is 3/16. i love to work heavy you get textures you cant get out of thinner materials and you can take what you are making much further into a negative space. My customers like it to they look at the price and cringe but then handle to piece and usually go " holy xxxx no wonder it is that much"

  13. this is a project i did not to long ago. It was 14 guage stainless steel sheet that was flamed coloured and then completley textured with die blocks i made for my big blu. it is supposed to match the rock colors somewhat and look older but not rust all up in a year or two. let me tell you if you have never had the oppurtunity to texture a large sheet of stainless by yourself DONT! my arms and legs hurt bad from holding it and resting it and all the vibrating. but it all worked out in the end and the customer was very happy..... of course i didnt charge enough.................................... sorry no pics of the texture totally forgot to get some will try to get by and get some one day soon.
  14. that is beautiful!! also is that a holstein cow hide you have it laying on?
  15. j w, i would say that you are probably too worried about having the cluster look "perfect" if you look at real grape clusters on a vine they very greatly in size shape and symetry. just my opinion but i would say you are a getting hung up on "right" or "decent"
  16. thanks frosty i was not aware of the difference in functionality of a planetary verses worm gears. thanks again
  17. i am glad that i posted this

  19. so i am transitioning my buisness from welding repair, facility maintance, and small construction to be more focused on welding and blacksmithing. My current buisness name is Ag Assist and will in a few months be Burdette Ironworks I will still service my ag customers with welding repair and maintanace issues but will be striving for more metalwork and blacksmithing related jobs (which is what i really love) I have been advertising both buisnesses together for some time in preparation for the switch and talking with current customers and reaching out to new ones. Anyhow all that aside I finally got my new logo done and just wanted to show it off.
  20. This article was in my local paper saturday. I am glad that they caught these guys and that Mr. Zimmerman is a good guy and didnt just turn a blind eye and buy tools and items that he was conserned were stolen. I have never met any of these guys but have heard of them through the grapevine. I live about 45 minutes north of were it took place. see attached link hope it works. http://www.herald-mail.com/?cmd=displaystory&story_id=250967&format=html
  21. my god men that machine in utah is MARVELOUS!!!!! I would be willing to drive there from PA just to play with it for a day! I might be better of getting those fellows contact info and paying shipping etc on some of the stuff i would want done in the future, and instead make a smaller one along the lines of the one in the get twisted post. danger dillion i was also thinking about an old elevator motor and gearbox from a building salvage or something. Frosty the truck tranny idea would work i have an old 65 dodge sitting around with an ultra low gearing and a ton of torque. i bet an old A car tranny with the double reduction rear would work mounted on a big old ugly frame. If you had a rig like that your vary your speeds and possibly feather a hand clutch or something to tweak items? anyhow i am rambling. STONE MORE INFO SOON AND VIDEO IF POSSIBLE!!! thank you thank you to all.
  22. do you accept paypal? thanks for your thought!
  23. hello all I am in the begging stages of a heavy duty twister. I am hoping to build a machine that has a long bed to accomidate up to a ten foot piece in diameter of up to 6 or so inches. or multiple pieces to twist together in a sort of rope fashion. I know this may sound crazy but i have set my heart on it and am going to do it. first off though i believe i am in the market for a 200 to 1 reduction gear box. i have a ten horspower motor as well as access to rebuilt larger motors. I was thinking about building the bed out of some H beam or big I beam which I am know is some withing a mile or two of my shop. Of course all the bits or chucks will have to be modified and custom made for whatever i get into. Monster metal is on the other side of the country from me but you might have a gearbox like i am looking for just laying around. I am sure this post will set off some discussion. dont worry though i will read any and all post. thanks kyle
  24. you sir are TALENTED that is one beautiful bike and great to see a sporty instead of just another chopper. that baby looks great
