  1. To un coil it I usally take some string and measure out how much I need and mark it with soap stone then cut what i need off which a cut off wheel on my 4.5 angle grinder , then to starighten I heat it up and clamp in vice then do the "finale starighting on the anvil.
  2. I have used 3 of em and were very happy with all of them. I`am buying one in March , picking it up at the Big Blu Hammer in. I`am getting the 286Lb. Chris
  3. Frosty, Would 1045 be a good steel for a drift? Larry that jacket is only about a week old and has holes all in the arm from welding , so I dont mind LOL!!! Thanks !!

  5. Hey y`all, I`ve been busy in the smithy lately. Been making door pulls & hinges for the shop`s door. Also started a Wrought Iron / 5160 tomahawk today. Plan on finsing it tommorow. Here are some pics. I`ll post more pictures soon. Chris

  8. I use 1/4" stock for rivets. I useally upset one end , starting it by hand and if I dont get a big enough upset I`ll put iit in the vice and upset it more. (make sure you only leave a little above the jaws ,cause if you dont it"ll just bend).
  9. Thanks! The firepot is home made , my cousin cut it out at work and I welded it. The sides are 1/4" mild steel an dthe bottom is 3/8" stainless steel plate.
