  1. Just a point to be clear about with your clients Mark (as I'm sure you already know). Are you producing railings out of wrought iron - the material - or building "wrought" iron railings from mild steel? Assuming the latter, but it would certainly make a difference in $$ and availability. Good luck on your project/business! Just a bit jealous from cubicle land here..
  2. Perfect! Thanks for the memory jog! Mike
  3. Hello folks - hope this is the right forum to post this question. I'm drawing a complete blank for some reason - I've seen these setups that can be used as part of an OA torch, where you can use the torch and then set it in this device/stand - it then cuts off the flame/gas, but re-ignites once you lift it off this stand (assuming there is some type of sparker of igniter). Sounds like the device is plumbed to regulators/valves that control gas flow/based on the postion of a lever that holds the torch. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I saw it in a Peter Parkinson video - he was using it to help perform a series of twists in a bar, in which he had to put down the torch to re-orient material, then picked it back up to use. Lots of ON/OFF time, so to speak. A pic/brand or web reference would certainly be appreciated! Thanks, Mike
  4. While I do claim to have made several of these, I have to give design credit - as well as teaching me the skills to create - to Mark Aspery. Mark, I know you're lurking out there from time to time. Hope you're doing well and you had a good summer in Tuolumne? Mike Fort Collins, CO.
  5. Sounds like your set on your decision, but I purchased a 250lb Rathole earlier this year and have been very happy with it. Of course, I visit Jackson WY from CO quite a bit, so picking one up saved me the shipping $$..
  6. There is simply one correct solution to your problem: It sounds like you have a shop with too much equipment & tools - I, on the other hand, have a shop that NEEDS equipment & tools. I think you know the answer. I'm looking for a fly press, air hammer, milling machine..etc. Let me know if you need my shipping address!! Mike
  7. Here's a pic of mine - 44" to the top of the jaws. I find the height OK, but given my height (5'7"), I wouldn't go higher. I think for finer/delicate work, higher may be better (good visibility too) and for heavier work, better leverage and being more "over" the work may be an advantage. Mike
  8. About 6yrs straight on a BP and 4 others mixed experience and have to agree with NM and others. Heavier cuts - conventional, but I always finished, when necessary, with climb milling. Just be careful - I'd even work the table clamps slightly with sloppy ways...
