It does NOT look like an anvil; it looks like 1 type of anvil; some have perfect cone horns, some have variants of that shape some have no horns.
-
Do you actually need that shape or were you just spending a lot of time to make something that looked like the old ones?
-
Any relation to Arthur "two sheds" Jackson?

I'm sorry but I don't see how you determine Civil War vs 1840's or 1870's? Like Sherlock Holmes advises: “It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.” – A Scandal in Bohemia

All my non-net friends recognize me on that shirt!

Adding your general LOCATION would be a big step forward. Pickup is a LOT cheaper than shipping heavy stuff.
-
As well they should be; looks like a picture from a decorating magazine! Now to sell them on some matching pieces, end tables or wall sconces...

Since I'm still not allowed to drive, (concussion(s) several months ago. I have not managed to talk my wife into hauling it down to the feed store to weigh it,
-
and the Blacker it goes to! How much does the Fisher weigh?

You have to weld the small piece coaxially to the big piece?
-
-
did you contact Jymm and ask?

Size of hardy hole has no bearing. If the hollow is a caplet shape and the heel underside is undulating I would guess Arm and Hammer as the manufacturer (with Trenton as my backup guess) Note that manufacturers sometimes did contract work for other companies and stamped such anvils per that company's requirement.
-
What continent is it on? What does the bottom look like? Is the underside of the heel smooth or undulating? Is there any numbers along the front foot of the anvil? Soes it have a flat on the feet?
-
Also the more common Medieval door handle design.

Heavy Usage?
-
OUCH! All that work for a letter opener instead of a knife.
-
what's it made from?

Did you forge weld on a better alloy for the edge? Basic tools are usually just a medium carbon alloy at best...
-
The whole Idea of the original Rusty was to build it out of whatever you could find/scrounge and modify the plan as you go. If you have to copy an exact plan why not go with a better hammer like the tire hammer?
-
Any particular reason to design your own rather than using a proven in design?
-
It would be better (and cheaper!) to stuff your coffee can forge with the ashes of dollar bills than with concrete. Why would you even think of doing it?

I've done quite a few hours smithing in my basement using a one soft fire brick forge run off a torch like that---much more efficient than using the torch in open air.

It's beautifully done; but if your goal is to get smithing it's way more than was necessary and linked more to reproducing an old look. An analogy would be: building your own car from scrap parts---you don't need to build a Packard with an inline 12 cylinder engine to get a working car. (It would be impressive I admit!)
