  1. Very nice scabbards and tools as well! You're giving me ideas.
  2. Absolutely gorgeous work, and stunning hamons! Huzzah!~
  3. Very nice work. I would call it a humpback fighter because of the swell in the handle. ;-)
  4. Thanks, Gene. I need to post some more stuff, and will, as I have time.
  5. Hi Steve. How you doing? Yeah, Glenn called me after I protested the posting of the chart, and asked me if posting a link to it on my site was OK, I said sure. I don't mind people seeing the information, but as mentioned in the post, it IS copyrighted and may not be used without permission. I take Copyrights very seriously.
  6. Who is this? I checked your profile and all it says is New England. Yeah, I have a lot of time on my hands currently. I've been sitting in a cheap motel in Roswell, NM, looking for a place to live, all my stuff is in storage. Thanks!
  7. Thanks, Bigfoot. Interesting blade there, for sure. Good to hear that you have a satisfied customer.
  8. Thanks, Glenn. I certainly don't mean to be mean about it, but am dead serious about copyrights. I put a HUGE amount of work into that chart.
  9. Jim, considering it's you doing it, I'm sure it will be awesome. Can't wait to see what it looks like when done!
  10. Hello everyone. My name is Michael Mara, and for whatever reason, I just decided to jump in here today. Anyways, what better way to start than showing some knife process pics. There seems to be some interest in creating visible hamons in here, so I thought I'd post some pics, showing one I did last year. I started with 3/16" 1075, did some forging and grinding, then coated the spine with Satanite. The blade's final shape, with the clay coating: A closer pic of the clay coating: After hardening, showing the decarb pattern. Pretty, but it's got to go: It hardened up beautifully, HRC 60 at the edge, with the spine dead soft. The hamon: A closer look: A lot of polishing, some Manzanita burl scales, and we're good to go:
  11. Hi guys, it's me. Frosty, thanks for posting the link to my site. Um, Danz, did you not see on my color chart the words "Copyright 2009 Michael H Mara - Shimmering Dreams. May not be reproduced or used elsewhere without permission"? Your posting it here violates that copyright. Please remove the chart. Thanks, Michael
