You arn't supposed to use an Acetylene gauge with propane, The propane will eat the seals.

That m could be a 8 on its side.

it isn't a 173lb it is to small and light I think it is a 73lb

the t73 is on the left side under the horn and the rest is on the right.

It says trenton on the side. Try just the numbers.

this is a trenton anvil I would like to know the date to it. The number is T73m4973. Sorry no pics.

Send a sample of it to a blacksmith in your area and see what he thinks.

The housing for the gears? You have to take the blower side off first, than take off the blades. And there sould be three bolts on the gear box, take them out and whack it with a ruber mallet.

You could use a big rope cleet off a dock. They evan look kind of like an anvil.

An hour in a fire isn't going to do much in the way of pack carburizing unless it's a blown fire at near welding heat.
Ya he probly should leave it in for 3-4 hours. my mistake -
Get a chunck of pipe that the sword can fit into, seal one end put the sword in. Then crush some charcoal to dust and pack that all around the blade untill the pipe is almost full, put in some cardboard and seal the ather end. Bild a big fire and toss it in. Let it sit in the fire until the pipe is red hot and keep it red hot for about an hour then quench it in a barral of water.

I'd go with a 12ga shotgun with a 9 round extention tube.

You could use a chunk of rail road track, the shouldn't brake or bend.
