  1. the on you are talking about is a power tool for win xp,
    http://download.cnet.com/Image-Resizer-Powertoy-for-Windows-XP/3000-18487_4-10905400.html
this is a cnet link for downloading the program. I loved how simple it was but it's not offered on win7...

    hope that helps

  2. where are you located? some one near you may have one to give u.
I get em from suspension shops and junk yards around here.
its an easy source to find. if your up to a challenge go to a rent all shop that rents jack hammers and other tools. ask nicely for their broken bits. it's great steal
for some things like hardy cuts, So i believe a kukri from one would do well. man i don't envy your arm if you do make one from it. LOL

  3. ok here's mine,

    6" leg vise = 30 bucks
111 lbs arm and hammer anvil = 50 bucks
60 gallon air compressor new = 20 bucks ( needed a minor repair)
    4 inch leg vise= 40 bucks
    6" angle grinder = 20 bucks
cedar tongue and groove siding for the shop = 120 bucks
there is more but i can't think of em off the top of my head

oh yeah i got all my floor joists for the house (2x12x20) for 10 percent of cost

  4. Nice knife Lyle, I've been using the one I got from you for a few things, It keeps an edge really well!,
If you have time could you post a pick or link to one of your spring fuller, i've looked and can't find a good one.

the weld on the hilt looks so symmetrical to now that I look at it !

  5. I build my with a freon tank and 2 inch wool with two burners. I have always prefered to mount my burners at an angle. it seems to
be more efficient at heating the whole forge area. if you have too much space inside the forge or are building less efficient burners,
I could see aiming the burners to the work piece as a benefit.
    hope that helps.

  6. thanks for the chemistry on 360, I was concerned about the lead content, but made precautions by ventilating well.

I will look into 464 since i am just playing around anyway :) thanks again for the info!

  7. cool, that's what i was thinking. I was going to above a dull red on my first heat, and it forged well, then on the second heat it would fracture and mush.

will give it a go with a lower temp next time i am at the forge!

  8. thanks for the suggestion JN, I am trying to do bracelets from brass out of 1/2 inch stock , not sure annealling would do for me.

I think its more temperature specific than copper. I am sooo new to non-ferrous forging it's all an experiment right now. I guess i just gotta pay more attention to

    the heat on it.

  9. hello all,

I was just trying to forge some brass today and i can't seem to get the temperature right.

my first heat would work really well but once i took another heat it would crack or fracture off.

could someone please give me some pointers on forging this metal?

    THanks

    Jody

by the way its c360 alloy if that helps.
