  1. has anyone thought about or done any wire sculpture? if so I was wondering about techniques and such for making trees as well as some other ideas... I made two trees yesterday and they turned out alright. I will post some pictures and keep playing around with it.
  2. yes i do use libraries and ill look up enameling on google. i dont pay taxes yet and thanks for the info on brazing
  3. idk how i got into it it just happened but ive had a fascination with it for a long time
  4. thanks Thomas thats a good idea ya my art techer is pretty big on throwing clay and making clay things so ive got a little experience with glazes and melting glass but never in a charcoal forge so Ill give your creamer idea a try. also what is brazing?
  5. Ya the only problem is getting an anvil ill try again today and see if the person is there, but what i was thinking was a modified swage or something like that idk
  6. yes I know that already. I went wrong when I tried to cut it with out any of those listed tools, and an 8" piece of RR track as an anvil.
  7. hot cutters ? I tried all yesterday afternoon to split a piece of steel ans ended up with a split about a milimeter long so some help would be nice
  8. thanks for the help i torch idea is really helpful but i was wondering if my charcoal forge would be adequate for enamel?
  9. yes I just used my forge again yesterday i made the fire deeper and narrower... i found that out the hard way that it works best but thanks for the tip. the vacuum blower works really great, i got the metal up to orange red and above easily and in an 1/8 of the time "pretty much took the work out of blacksmithing lol not really... gonna try and get an anvil today so yay :D
  10. Thank you that is pretty much what I was thinking. Still wondering about enamel though
  11. I was wondering whether copper sheet is easily cut? also what tools I would need to form it like punches and stuff. lastly I was thinking of doing some crafty like stuff for Christmas such as two holly leaves with berries and small Christmas trees out of copper so I was wondering what to use to attach pieces... solder seems like the most obvious thing but again I'm pretty new to this, and also how to you enamel copper because I saw some holly leaves and berries and the leaves were green with copper veins showing through and the berries were red.????? Any help with this would be cool...:confused::confused:
  12. I found a shop vacuum and the blower on that works great
