I finally managed to get what I always wanted as an anvil stand, and spent a couple of hours this weekend trimming it up with a router:

Nice piece of English Oak. Feels very stable and the Anvil rings nicely!

    Is it going to stay on the paving slabs? I ask because Im thinking about where I'm going to put my anvil when I get one, and I have been wondering if it could crack the slabs.

    What do you think? I suppose the stump absorbs a lot of the shock?

    The slabs are set on a 6 inch concrete base Bob so expect it should be ok :)

    Very nice! I would love a few hundred board feet of English oak to play with. It's far too expensive for me here though.
