John Martin
This is my first piece of damascus ever. The first two are of it right out of the etch. The third is it after is been cleaned and dried. I now know, that the etch is always darker, and that file, rr spike, file w2, 10390ish, w2 do not contrast that much. It's six layers. It's a pearing knife for my mom, 7 or 8" overall, 3.5" blade, and like 3.5-4.5" handle. Edited March 8, 2009 by m_brothers
Chad J
Great Job! Forge Welding for some is easy, and for some (like my self) proving to be quite difficult.:D

Ecart
I like the shape. It sort of reminds me of a pocket knife. I'll bet it will serve your mother well. My wife wants me to sharpen her kitchen knives and to make her some more steak knives.

John Martin
Thank you mills, that means a lot to me, but I still have so so so so much more to learn. my next attempt will be around 30-40 layers if I do it right, and don't screw up my welds.
