MRobb
This is my first skinner. It's a gift for a niece's husband. It's 5160 with a red oak handle and brass pins.http://www.iforgeiron.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/13491/size/big/cat//ppuser/2638

Chad J
how long did you make it? and also is there a proffered length for a skinner?
MRobb
Thanks. The blade is 3 5/8" long. The oal is 8 1/4". I don't know if there is a freferred length on a skinner or not. I don't hunt. I just looked at the other examples on this site & tried to do something similar in design. The hunters & bladesmiths on this site would know. Maybe they will comment. MetalMuncher
I have hunted, and skinned, and frankly, if its sharp it should do the job. The Idea of a skinner is not to have such a poited edge, or you might pop some guts with nasty stuff it in which will taint the meat. I like it though, looks good. Single bevels are some of my favorites. Keep up the good work!
Quentin
i love making skinners. i hunt and personally there really isnt a "set" length, its whatever you feel comfortable and are used to. i like it a lot. keep up the good work.
