pamike
call one of the coal companies and ask if they sell it by the truckload.
wolf mtn
You indicated using oxygen. coal dust and fumes aren't gonna help much, have you considered propane. It's much cleaner and faster. zoeller forge tells how to build a real nice gas forge. All the parts are available so you won't have to travel. I know how it is to be limited. Start small or build one to suit the size u want. With propane you can have hot metal in 5 minutes and shut it off at will. Safer without having to build a chimney and worry about too much dirt and dust.
tech413
I would have to agree with wolf, not only because of the dust with coal, but the smoke is quite bad when starting the fire. I would also consider the use of propane, just my opinion. By the way, welcome to the site!!!
JohnW
I would say to get coal and other blacksmithing assistance checkout the Indiana Blacksmithing Association, Indiana Blacksmithing Association, Inc.. I see we have a satellite group in (near) Lafayette, Rocky Forge Blacksmith Guild
