December 30, 200817 yr Anybody know of any Scrap steel places in Massachusetts, preferrably further east? Thanks, Archie
December 31, 200817 yr There use to be 2 or 3 in the worcester area that would let you pick. There are a few in southern NH. portsmouth area.
December 31, 200817 yr I used to buy quite a bit of new steel from J Broomfield & Sons in providence RI. I didnt buy much used from them but they used to have a lot of stuff piled up. I'm not sure how far you are from providence but its easy to find (allens ave exit) Rob
January 1, 200917 yr Archie, Try Central Steel in Somerville. Nice place, huge selection of mild steel. Also Haverhill is Haverhill Steel and Salvage. The Haverhill steel yard is smaller and does not have the same selection of steels but is a bit cheaper.
January 2, 200917 yr I would call ahead and ask if they have what you want. For instance they do not carry 3/8's square.
January 20, 20179 yr I'd like to revisit this topic. Anyone aware of any yards in the Worcester MA area that let you pick scrap?

I'm not too certain, but I know there is a scrapyard in Tyngsboro/Lowell, MA area. They might let ya pilfer through, as if I remember, they do mostly recycling. It's worht a shot if nothing else. Other than that, there is a Steel yard in the town I live in. (Nashua, NH) Called Klokner (Sp) Metals.
February 17, 20179 yr If you're willing to drive down into CT, the Bargain Barn at Logan Steel in Meriden is an experience not to be missed.
