Archie Zietman Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Anybody know of any Scrap steel places in Massachusetts, preferrably further east? Thanks, Archie Quote
Dave M Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 There use to be 2 or 3 in the worcester area that would let you pick. There are a few in southern NH. portsmouth area. Quote
SLOB Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I used to buy quite a bit of new steel from J Broomfield & Sons in providence RI. I didnt buy much used from them but they used to have a lot of stuff piled up. I'm not sure how far you are from providence but its easy to find (allens ave exit) Rob Quote
Doug C Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Archie, Try Central Steel in Somerville. Nice place, huge selection of mild steel. Also Haverhill is Haverhill Steel and Salvage. The Haverhill steel yard is smaller and does not have the same selection of steels but is a bit cheaper. Quote
Archie Zietman Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 Thanks guys! I think I'll try Haverhill first. Quote
Doug C Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I would call ahead and ask if they have what you want. For instance they do not carry 3/8's square. Quote
rule4 Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I'd like to revisit this topic. Anyone aware of any yards in the Worcester MA area that let you pick scrap? Quote

Anyone aware of any yards in the Worcester MA area that let you pick scrap? I'm not too certain, but I know there is a scrapyard in Tyngsboro/Lowell, MA area. They might let ya pilfer through, as if I remember, they do mostly recycling. It's worht a shot if nothing else. Other than that, there is a Steel yard in the town I live in. (Nashua, NH) Called Klokner (Sp) Metals. Quote
JHCC Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 If you're willing to drive down into CT, the Bargain Barn at Logan Steel in Meriden is an experience not to be missed. Quote
