February 8, 200620 yr I have what some call a 'Cavalry' forge. Anyone have any info on these portables. This unit breaks down into a compact steel box about 24" X 28" X 10".
February 8, 200620 yr have seen a couple in person and a few on ebay they were designed to be hauled on a mule.everything that you needed to maintain the horses while out on patrol would fit in the box which when unpacked became the forge. the neatest one that I saw had anvil , tongs ,hammers ,nippers etc,all compactly arranged in the box/forge including the legs for the forge and the blower it was the probally the most portabe forge ever made and its name / calvary forge / pretty much describes its main use was with the U.S calvary
March 17, 200818 yr I had a friend buy one of the naval versions, unused with the original paint on it from an old military surplus store. The naval version had an electric blower running off an odd voltage that he removed and replaced with a hand crank blower.
