Featured Replies

Fellow blacksmithaholics,
I just arranged a speaking gig in San Antonio in January, I was wondering if I might visit some smiths while I am there, I have all my accomodations paid for, so this is just a during the day stop by, lookyloo kinda visit, share some stories etc. maybe enjoy a beer together, Let me know. Thanks.

Good time of year to be here...

I'm about 10 miles south of New Braunfels and about 35 miles north of downtown SA on I-35. Let me know when it gets closer and maybe we can get together. I have a day job so work in the shop nights and weekends but I'm somewhat flexible...Hollis

San Antonio New Mexico is less than 20 miles from my shop. Let me know when you'll be around, Speaking at the Bosque Del Apache no doubt!

Gentlemen,
I just recieved the date of the event, it is January 12th 2009, I told them I needed another night, so they are footing the bill and all expenses, so I'll be there a day before or after, depending on you guys, does a sunday work?

*WHICH* San Antonio will you be at; there are a number of them in the USA with San Antonio TX being the much better known one.

San Antonio NM is about 600 miles from San Antonio TX (NM also has a Columbus which is over 1500 miles from Columbus OH and a Las Vegas which is a great disappointment for folks looking for the "strip") And not to forget San Antonio Puerto Rico...

Pretty sure it's the one near you, but I'm checking with them just to be sure. Thanks.

Ever heard of this place?? I'm gonna be booked there, and planning on taking an extra night to free up time for sightseeing and visiting.

Welcome

Nice resort and hotel over on the northwest side of town. About 25 miles from my place across Loop 1604 and up I35.

HW,
Thanks for the link, I just noticed it and looked it over, wow!! nice place, maybe golf is in order as well!! Thanks again!!

Westin La Cantera-the only hotel I have ever been lost in...It is a really nice place-but built like a maze. My previous employer had company parties there several times per year. I am not a golfer, but I drove a golf cart around the course-pretty incredible stuff. It may be too cold in January, but they have one hell of a resort type pool too. Probably the nicest hotel in San Antonio.
Have fun and safe travels.

I appreciate the info, I have an extra day to go see stuff, any suggestion??

Places to see???
I would suggest the River Walk, the Alamo, the Missions. You wouldn't want to pass up an opportunity to see the San Antonio Spurs.
Have a good trip.

I got to see the Alamo and the Riverwalk, did not have time to do much more, no spurs, but it was a business trip, the La Cantera is a cool place, the Texas Valero Open is played there, Nice course, the corp paid for a round, very nice. Sorry I could not get away to come visit your forge, just not enought ime in the days here. Good mexican food here though, sure have missed that since I left California. Like your airport too, easy in / out, and free wireless, that's where I am now, listening to musaac on the speakers, agggg!!
