Quentin Posted November 5, 2008 Share Posted November 5, 2008 these are the two knives that i made so far. i am working on finishing up a third one on friday. for right now i am not going to do anything with the handles until i learn a little more about how to do it properly. they were both made out of leaf springs. both of the knives were hardened and tempered. feel free to criticize them. tompdw Posted November 6, 2008 Share Posted November 6, 2008 Hello, five alarm. I use a lot of leaf springs also. How did you harden and temper them. Did you have a specific blade shape/purpose in mind or did you let the steel decide what shap it was going to be? for now you could cord wrap them. JPH Posted November 6, 2008 Share Posted November 6, 2008 Hello: If it were me, Id' just round off those sparp corners and wrap wet rawhide around it nice and tioght and then let it dry and shellac over it and call them done..
