JHCC Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 This video from 1974 shows the workers at Atlas Forge in Bolton*, Lancashire (UK) using the puddling process to convert pig iron into wrought iron, with the help of a lot of heat and a massive power hammer. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Ln6ve6tAX/ * "It's not a palindrome! A palindrome of Bolton would be Notlob!" Quote

ILoveSteel Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 JHCC my good man, you beat me to the punch by two weeks! I just had that same video in my Facebook feed, really enjoyed it, and once done, my first thought was "Oh! Gotta share this with the guys at IFI!" That footage is likely some of the last commercial production of Wrought Iron. So labor intensive for such a small amount in comparison to the mega steel mills. Puddling, Pig Iron, hammering, rolling, forge welding goodness in that video. Quote
