hello, sorry to bother you, in an agricultural land they have to trace a path, for economic and time reasons they would like to make a revolving bar like a level crossing. obviously using recycled material on the cheap. how do you advise us to make it?

Good to see you again Angiolino, you're no bother at all.

Do you want help with a gate like pictured above? We wouldn't call it a "revolving" gate but I can understand how it might translate like that. We call those a "Swinging" gate but that's just us.

The gate in the lower picture is stronger with the angled section near the hinges and much less likely to sag. I'd suggest copying it rather than the one in the first picture.

How wide an opening do you want to gate off? Measure the distance and start collecting steel, square pipe is easier to build with but round pipe is more common and more economical. A little more difficult to cut and weld accurately but not bad. 

The posts need to be good though or the weight of the gate will tilt the hinge post. The latch post needs to be strong enough bad guys can't just throw a chain over it and pull it over. Make the posts at least 2x the width depth or diameter of the gate steel, larger is better and bury them deep and set them in concrete.

It's one thing to be economical and another to be cheap. Cheap gates are rarely secure enough to keep trespassers out, even the dumb lazy ones.

The weak link in gates is almost always the latch and lock.

thanks for the good advice. my dilemma is the hinges. maybe they bring me the mesh for the steel concrete and the stumps for plowing for reinforced concrete I had thought about the carpentry tubes for the scaffolding they can be found cheaply used in construction sites being decommissioned, they give them away for little. the problem I repeat are the hinges of the hinges and the upright poles of the pillars. we will have to put those in place by making large foundation holes and pouring a layer of concrete stones and rocks to make the plinths more robust. a friend of mine the owner wanted to put old used tires to use as formwork shell for the plinths what do you think useless and a hindrance thanks sorry if I bother you

Hinges are easy to make, especially if you have a welder. a short length of pipe that just fits over a bolt or piece of round bar welded to a piece of angle iron and another with the round bar "Pin" makes the two halves of a hinge. Make two pair and you're ready to weld them to the gate and gate post. 

I prefer to put the hollow (pipe) on top facing down so water can't collect and cause rust. Those get welded to the gate.

The halves with pins get welded pointed up to the gate post. 

Digging a large hole and using an old tire to form a footing (plinth) at the bottom of the gate posts works really well. You don't need a very large tire or wheel unless people bring a truck or larger to pull the gate over. Heck, you don't need a form at all, just dig the hole a little larger than the posts set the posts where you want them and pour of concrete 30cm or so up the posts.

I don't know what size pipe you are going to use for the posts but making the footer a little larger makes them almost impossible to pull out. You have to dig them out. Seriously if you used 15cm pipe posts 30cm wheels, disks, old tires, hole, you'll have to dig them out if you ever want to remove them.

Don't forget to weld the post to the wheel, steel disk or weld some pieces of bar sticking out sideways if you're just using concrete so the post is tied in (connected) to the anchor.

Remember the concrete in the post hole is NOT a plinth. It is NOT there to support the weight of the gate. The concrete is an ANCHOR the post is concreted into so it CAN NOT be pulled out or tipped over.

A good method if you don't have a welder is to drill two holes all the way through the posts at 90 degrees to each other. Then simply slip two pieces of bar through the holes so they stick out both sides. This WILL tie the post into the concrete so solidly you'll have to dig it out and break it with sledge hammers to separate them. 

The hinges I described above are very easy to make from salvaged parts. Let me know if you have any trouble.

thanks so under the pipe it is better to weld an old iron wheel rim with the retained bolt-type struts to better bind the concrete casting if I find old H-beam stumps as a pillar support it would be indestructible and impassable I have to go to the scrap dealers in the area thanks we'll update each other thanks for your availability sorry if I bored you thanks

You're always welcome Amico. Using an H beam for the gate posts will be much stronger than pipe. drilling a couple holes to pass rod through or welding a small wheel rim to the bottoms or just small pieces of scrap steel to it. It doesn't take a lot for concrete to tie in well, the texture on reinforcing bar is so it ties into the concrete. 

H beam has more surface area plus the 4 inside angles for concrete to bond with so if its deep enough in the concrete it doesn't need more. 

The idea of a plate type anchor is to make it so you'd have to lift a large block of the ground to pull the post or bend it over.

H beam gate posts  in a meter or deeper hole will be very strong, they'll break peoples tractors or trucks trying to move them.
