Titanium Plant

Recommended Posts

Here is something of interest.  American Titanium Metal, LLC is going to invest almost $1 billion dollars in a new titanium plant to serve the aerospace industry, right here in good ol NC.  It's nice to see American jobs being created.  The "average" starting salary looks good as well.  The President of Capital Projects certainly sounds qualified and I bet they mean business.  It's really not far from here, but I bet I can't wangle my way into getting any scrap from it, when it's up and running....  Here's a link to the Dept of Commerece announcement at any rate, if anyones interested.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fiasco Boeing had with titanium that was produced in China and found to be inferior for aviation with forged documentation from suppliers to them. We really need to stop depending on off shore suppliers for critical supplies.

Thanks for the link Scott. Sending manufacturing offshore is only cheaper if the products don't kill your customers. Boeing has had other issues but [political content removed] maybe it'll make a comeback.

Bet it won't be long and we'll be mining and processing lithium here too.
