May 16, 20242 yr Here's an article I found interesting. I like how they innovated and kept the shop going. Talk about thinking outside the box. I did not know about transfering chain from ship to ship either. I do think there are a few topics on IFI about the fate of some of the equipment from Building 105. https://www.nps.gov/articles/000/charlestown-navy-yard-chain-forge.htm
May 16, 20242 yr Very interesting, thanks Scott. 360lb. per link, no wonder ships at anchor stay put! Frosty The Lucky.
May 30, 20242 yr I agree with you. I also like the article information on how they managed to innovate and keep the shop operational under difficult conditions. I do not have any personal experience transferring the chain from ship to ship. I think what happened with the with the tools of Building 105 discussions on IFI is so exciting to see what will happen with these tools.
