thegearjunkie
I'm new to Blacksmithing, I've just recently taken an interest in it. Does anyone have any info on making Throwing knives? What kind of steel? Can you use leaf springs? Sorry if that sounds retarded, like i said I'm new to all this cool stuff
JohnW
I've never made any throwing knives, but I'd think leaf spring would be a great choice. It's more toward medium carbon, should make a good tuff blade.
Fruityloops31
an old friend of mine used leaf springs for tamahawks. I know its not the same thing, but he says b/c they flex the hawk wont break. this would also be a usefull quality for throwing knifes. thegearjunkie
Thanks guys ! As soon as I can get some gear set up I'm going to start playing around alittle and see what I can do. I need to find someone around the Fredericksburg area that can teach me some stuff. I have a friend that is into throwing knives and tomahawks. I'd love to make him a tomahawk, that would be so cool. Pault17
Gearjunkie, I have a kid brother who lives in orange and works as a cop in culpeper. He has a friend that bangs metal on an occasional basis and makes a lot of re-enactment stuff. if you're interested, pm me and I will forward your information on to my bro to pass on. paul
