July 29, 20232 yr hello all, i am looking at a new anvil. I am looking at a Holland south German pattern and a Refflinghaus #58. I am looking for opinions on which one yall have personal experience with as well as pros and cons to each one. I have heard only good about both and have not heard anything against either. Just trying to decide which one to spend my hard earned money on. I currently have a 150lbs vulcan, a 150lbs trenton, and a 300lbs peter wright.
July 30, 20232 yr I have no experience with either one but Holland is on my short list. They have always answered all of my questions in spite me not ordering an anvil yet.
July 30, 20232 yr In my case Holland would get the nod. I haven't bought an anvil, but did buy a swage block. There were some problems with the one I received. Called Holland and had a replacement in a couple of days. I was ready to ship the swage block back when told to keep it and have fun modifying it to suit me. The replacement was perfect. In my book you can't beat that kind of customer service. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sails.
August 1, 20232 yr Thank you for the interest in our Holland tools and the kind replies. We make everything in our foundry in Michigan and only sell direct. Hope you folks have a great month of August and stay cool! Cheers
December 3, 20232 yr Refflinghaus #58 is a true South German pattern, the Holland anvil listed as South German Pattern is actually a Swedish pattern.
