Whiskeysup
My granddaughter was curious and wanted to learn about smithing. Had some great discussions about the art and technology of the craft. She's now hooked. I see my coal usage going up but I gladly welcome it. Daswulf
Thats great Whiskysup. Another one hooked on the craft. Tell her not to be shy, she doesn't have to self distance from the anvil or work piece. Getting in closer will give her a better hammer swing form and reduce fatigue. I see a bunch of people hammering steel for the first time take that stance. I try to get them closer to the anvil and choke up on the longer stock workpiece so they are in better line for a more vertical hammer swing. It'll all come with time and learning. Send her to read up on the basics here. Safety, hammer control and all that. Good job getting her fire lit.
