territorialmillworks
Have (2) 2" X 24" X 48" sheets of 2600 deg insulation. This stuff is about the density of styrofoam. I have enough to build a new forge with 4" thick walls but I'm thinking this is 'overkill'. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions???
racer3j
1 layer and ITC 100 would match most good commercial forges.mike Edited August 19, 2008 by racer3j
territorialmillworks
That's what I thought. ITC coating was always part of the 'plan'. Got the fiberboard for $85 on ebay and knew that I had to build a new/better forge.
Frosty
2" of board is plenty, especially if coated with ITC-100. You'll need something much tougher for the floor of course but 3,000f split hard fire brick on top of the insulating board will work fine. ITC-100 on the floor too. Good score by the way.
