HoldFastForge
I bought an old coal forge and the fire pot seems to be raised up about an inch and a half. When I got it, it was filled with fire brick but none were in place. Any insight as to how I'm supposed to lay the brick correctly? Is it just to raise the bed of the fire? Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Good score on that old Champion forge. Originally those forges were designed to have clay lining the table up to the rim of the fire pot. You could arrange the bricks to do the same thing. ThomasPowers
I have seen the old large "RR forges" that had the fire pot raised enough that firebrick set in fireclay made the "table". (Belonged to a retired professional smith who told me about being part of a smithing crew in the 1940's as "orthopedic smiths" in a hospital.)
