How not to use a drawknife.

Featured Replies

I just gave my grandkids a small drawknife, they are 10 years old.  Previously I gave them a small froe.  The Idea is to get them used to bladed tools *before* I give them a hatchet... (Bought it at a fleamarket, hand forged, old, didn't have handles; I looked for file handles at a freight salvage store and didn't find any but I did find 2 60 cent Dandelion weeders with wooden handles jam fitted on the shafts---they worked great when transferred and cheaper than the file handles would have been.)

Having a small veiner slip and embed in a finger gave me the first "pulsing bleeder" I can recall; luckily the ebony didn't show blood...
