February 23, 20197 yr Hi, I have a 14-year old for is getting quite good at a few simple projects, hooks, candle holders and the like, but his forge is hand pumped. I would like to get an electric blower for him but have not found an economically priced blower on eBay. Any suggestions?
February 23, 20197 yr Welcome to IFI! If you haven't yet, please READ THIS FIRST!!! Hand-pumped is best for him now. It's safer, and he'll get a better feel for how more or less air makes a larger or smaller fire. That's a good lesson to learn right at the start.
February 23, 20197 yr I would suggest a decent hand crank blower before going to an electric; a lot less fuel and stock burnt! (Decent meaning that it's easy to crank and of a pretty good sized---the smaller ones tend to be more of a pain to use.) As for buying an electric; if you only lived in the USA I could tell you where to get one probably for free or a box of doughnuts. Of course that info has been posted to this site many times before.
February 23, 20197 yr Pictures of the forge would help with advice about a blower. WW2 forge doesn't say much about it or the fuel you are using. Don't be upset if your thread is moved to the proper sub-forum.
February 24, 20197 yr Good point; I've seen WWII surplus forges that were 42" square and weighed 300+ pounds and others that were "pack forges" that I could lift and carry.
