Seabass
This is my first attempt at a forged knife. I know that is not great, it has a significant warp in the spine, my bevels (or what I'm calling bevels) are atrocious, and I'm pretty sure there are cracks in it as well but for my first blade, I'd say it ain't half bad. I was just looking for other opinions. ] Thanks, Seabass
Latticino
I think you have described it pretty accurately. In my opinion making a finished knife is only about 20% forging, for blades that aren't made by stock removal. The balance is grinding or filing, heat treatment, and handle fit and finish. You are on the road, but will get to a destination you find acceptable more quickly with a direct lesson from a good teacher.
JHCC
I have nothing to add to what Latticino said other than a recommendation to keep this blade for comparison with the blades you will eventually make. As your skills improve to the point that you get frustrated with how far you have yet to go, it’s nice to have a reminder of how far you’ve come. LikeMakinStuff
Your exactly right. Sometimes we forget how far we've come and need a little reminder
