Trenton Anvil

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a anvil yesterday with no visible name. It was mounted to a 400 lb machine base, wth a large Colombian vise.  I took the anvil off and wire brushed it for hours. All kinds of wrighting on it. I think the name is Trenton , is marked 130, marked SOLID WROUGHT. Has. JLION on other side with more stamping, also huge # 2   Any buddy no what all this means. I mounted it to a 12 x 14 beam. THAN YOU IN ADVANCE. LOU

Looks mighty Trenton to me, I think the name stamped into it's side clinches it. ;) The condition looks excellent, what's it weigh? Have you done a rebound test, results?

You make some really NICE scores, Lou!

Sure looks like a German Trenton to me.  It has the steps on the feet and the weight stamp right in the same place as mine.  If so, it was made before 1898. I think it's on the early end of the German Trenton's like mine is.  They were most likely made in Germany by Herman Boker and imported to the USA.  Here's a picture of mine for reference.DSCN3866.thumb.JPG.9b3d48a96b0ac0603bfc9b590f3ec26e.JPG
