Jeffrie Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 I recently picked up a 250lb Hay-Budden Anvil and was trying to find out the age by the serial # 217543 or 217548 it’s hard to tell if it is a 3 or 8 for the last # any info would be appreciated, Thanks Quote
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Five numbers off won't make any difference, looks like a 3 to me. Someone with a copy of AIA will be along directly. It looks like your anvil is in excellent shape and I hope you have read enough to know not to do any grinding on the old gal. Hot steel will shine up the face nicely. Speaking of reading, have you read this thread yet? BTW welcome to IFI. Quote

ThomasPowers Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Depends on the location; we have over 150 countries participating here on the World Wide Web and prices can vary by a factor of 2 just in a single country depending on location! Quote
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 That's why this thread is always suggested reading. Quote

ThomasPowers Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Ok so you are in Ohio, New South Wales, Australia; great probably tend towards anvils from the UK. Quote
