July 10, 20187 yr This is a my first big Bowie knife. The blade is 1095 steel and is a foot long. The knife itself is 18 inches in length. It just begs to be held up and accompanied by the words, "That's not a knife...that's a knife." Sadly, my kids don't even know who Crocodile Dundee is. The handle is a gorgeous curly maple that looks like tiger stripes to me.It has a single domed brass pin and a solid steel guard hand-filed to fit the tang perfectly. The knife has a hidden tang, but the tang is nearly a quarter of an inch thick and runs almost to the very end of the handle. The sheath is hand tooled leather with an aged mahogany finish. I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. I know its not perfect or even up to what many of you guys are doing already, but I'm happy with it.

July 10, 20187 yr I think the blade looks great, the handle material is beautiful (I love curly maple) and the sheath is very well done. My only critique (and I am definitely not a master bladesmith, this is only my opinion) would be on the handle. The overall shape looks quite good, but the corners seem a little boxy still and the raised pin both look like they will dig into your hand over extended use periods with such a large knife. However, those are both things that could be tweaked with it as is. Overall it is a fine looking Bowie sir!
July 10, 20187 yr "that's a knoife"... Mighty blade, I would put a smoother transition beetween the guard handle, handle seems a bit blocky and outcast from the perfect fit & finish blade and guard. Nicely done.
