I’m building a gas forge and was wondering if anyone had ever insulated theirs with roxul afb?  

Can't seem to find a temperature rating for it so most likely NOT a refractory item.

Roxul lists its melting point at 2150F.

But it also has a limited time for effective fire barrier use in residential firewall applications. I doubt it'll hold up to direct flame contact for very long, even if you don't accidentally melt the stuff. 

Stuff usually fails before it melts due to structural issues.
