January 21, 20188 yr Got the forge going last night. Been reading a ton. This site has so much info it can be almost overwhelming. I learned so much made mistakes but kept moving forward. Doesn't seem like much but I'm pretty excited about what I did with a horse shoe I had lying around.
January 21, 20188 yr Welcome aboard Baxter, glad to have you. She looks HOT from here though electronic cameras tend to exaggerate bright colors. From here she looks to be mid high yellow hot. Nice job on the horse shoe. Frosty The Lucky.
January 21, 20188 yr Author Thank you Frosty. Is that too hot? Should I turn it down? I am certainly open to suggestions.
January 21, 20188 yr I don't think it's too hot for general work until you start getting thin. Remember, the thinner the stock the faster it heats. Turn it down when you need to. Frosty The Lucky.
January 21, 20188 yr I think that Frosty meant your forge is hot enough to make an outstanding example. The heat can always be reduced, but a cold forge is the usual first effort we see here; congratulations
