MrBojangles
I was planning on going today but had to work at the last minute. Anyone have any idea what the anvil are like and how the bidding is on them? And other stuff, too? If anyone kept track of specific anvil, their quality, and hammer value, that could prove useful. Stash
Hey Ian- was just going to text you to see if you scored. Hate to rub it in, but there were 5 or 6 anvils for sale at the PABA meeting, up to 220 #. Sorry you had to work. Steve
MrBojangles
Steve, I called after the auction was over just to inquire. Sounds like prices were high. I had read somewhere, maybe on this forum, that a good anvil should run $3 to $4 a pound. The author usually stated this is the going rate but they, personally, have not paid that high. I can't seem to find one anywhere that low. Usually my experience it's 1 1/2 times that rate...or more. Thoughts?
BIGGUNDOCTOR
Drop the idea that a real anvil has to be a London pattern. When you do that you will find anvils in many places and configurations. Some inexpensive, some free.
