Percivalfab Posted July 1, 2017 Share Posted July 1, 2017 My grandfather just gave me a hay budden anvil and i would like to find out some more info on it it has a number 3 stanped under the horn it has 2 upside down 1s and a 4 under the name the sn is 87475 the 8 could be a 3 and the 4 is really unclear Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
njanvilman Posted July 1, 2017 Share Posted July 1, 2017 If your anvil serial number is correct with the 8 as the first digit, the anvil was made in 1903. If the first digit is a 3, then the anvil was forged in 1898. The 3 under the horn is thought to be an inspectors mark. The numbers under the name should be the weight in lbs.
