Just picked up my anvil two weeks ago and now looking and deciding on a forge setup. I've been on this site a lot since deciding to start blacksmithing. My father in law has done some smithing as a hobby so I have a small resource for knowledge. This summer him and I are planning on volunteering at a historic village in the blacksmith shop. If you'll put your general location in the header you might be surprised how many of the Iforge gang live within visiting distance. Just telling us in one or two posts isn't going to stick in our memories after we open another message. My wife is a UPer. Check out UMBA they have chapters all over the Upper Midwest. They're a good bunch of guys and every hour you spend working with an experienced smith is worth many hours even days trying to figure it out yourself, even if there are two of you doing the figuring.
