Any idea who made this anvil or produced this shape. . It is about 20 lbs and only marking I can see on the right side in the picture on lower half of anvil.

Cast; is it cast iron or cast steel?

Not sure.  Haven't seen it in person. It is for sale locally.  Fellow wants $40 for I but I think I can get it for $30 no problem.  I might just take a shot and give it a rebound test. If seems ok I will pick it up.  Just trying to know what it is before I go. 

 

I'd sure take a look at it. From the pic it looks to have a little edge chipping but no hammer marks on the face, makes me suspect it's steel. I'm also a bit skeptical about it being 20lbs. but without something to compare that opinion isn't worth anything.

I think it'd make a beautiful bench anvil and for $30 even cast iron would be useful. Deb's 10lb. fold forming and jewelry anvil is a cast iron ASO.
